Superannuation Pension is the retirement benefit granted to a Government servant on account of the service rendered by him to the Government.
To be eligible for monthly pension after retiring from service till his death, a Government service holder must:
To ensure timely payment of pension, the Head of Office or other authority responsible for preparing the pension papers will initiate the pension case two years before the date of retirement of the Government servant. This process should be completed in good time at any rate not later than eight months in advance of the date of retirement of the Government servant. During the next two months, actual pension papers will be prepared along with all other formalities completed and sent to the Directorate of Pension for processing of the pension case and issue of pension payment order one month ahead of retirement. As such, the Government servant should submit formal application for pension one year in advance of the date of retirement.
Form 1, Form 1A, Form 2 and Form 19 comprise the complete set of forms for applying for normal superannuation pension. A government servant may fill-up the relevant information as required in these forms and submit the same to the Head of Office for necessary action.
With effect from 01/01/2006, Full Superannuation Pension shall be determined at the rate of 50% of last month's emolument drawn or 50% of last 10 months average emoluments whichever is beneficial to the employee. The amount so computed shall be rounded off to next multiple of Rs. 10 and will be the Basic Pension, which in in no case shall be lower than fifty percent of the sum of minimum of the pay in the Pay Band and the corresponding Grade Pay thereon from which the pensioner had retired. Minimum amount of Full Superannuation Basic Pension shall be Rs.3000/- per month and maximum Rs.27,500/- per month. In addition to Basic Pension, other allownacws that are admissible to all pensioners are Dearness Allowance (called Dearness Relief) and Medical Allowance.
Qualifying service for receiving Full Superannuation Pension shall be 25 years instead of present 33 years. Proportionate Pension shall be given to those employees who have completed minimum 20 six monthly periods of qualifying service but less than 50 six monthly periods of qualifying service. This provision shall come into effect from 01-01-2006.
IMPORTANT: If the service rendered is less than ten years, no pension is payable. Only Service Gratuity in lump sum in lieu of pension is admissible.
